The National Art Gallery of Colombo is the first state-sponsored art gallery built in Sri Lanka. The gallery is located in Cinnamon Gardens, close to Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) Theatre and the National Museum. There are 3 sections: the permanent exhibit hall, the East Hall, and the West Hall.

The permanent exhibit section has the works of approximately 40 famed local artists. These exhibits range from traditional paintings to revolutionary modern artwork. They use various mediums and materials and symbolize the traditions, history, and culture of Sri Lanka. The East and West Halls are for temporary exhibits. Talented artists can display their paintings or other artistic crafts by making a booking. As there are often temporary exhibitions going on every day, there is usually plenty to see at the gallery.

The National Art Gallery is run by The Department of Cultural Affairs. The opening hours of the gallery are from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. All visitors are welcome.
