Home to over 400 wild elephants, the Udawalawe National Park is a haven for these gentle giants who roam around in their natural habitat. With a higher concentration of resident elephants, sightings of these gigantic mammals are guaranteed at Udawalawe. The safari will take you along a muddy and bumpy terrain, exploring the wilderness allowing you to absorb nature at its best.

Our designated meeting point will be the park gate unless you request for hotel pick up.

Experience:

The private safari at the Udawalawe National Park will commence from the main entrance of the park which is near the car park. Complimentary pick up is available from the hotel if it’s less than 5km away from the park. Once the entrance tickets are checked as a standard procedure, the journey into the wild begins where you can witness the majestic Sri Lankan Elephant.

While passing through the Savannah grasslands, you are bound to encounter the elephants in massive herds and also spot Jackals, Spotted Deer, Wild Water Buffalo, Mongoose, Crocodiles and many birds such as the Sea Eagle, Fishing Eagle, Crested Serpent Eagle, Sri Lankan Jungle Fowl, Green Pigeon as well as the Sri Lanka Grey Hornbill. The banks of the reservoir are always stunning while it’s also where many animals come to quench their thirst. From crocodiles basking under the sun, to birds chirping and elephants in their herds, it will be the perfect spot to click some photographs. Your tour ends at the entrance while you can be dropped off at the hotel, if your hotel is in a 5km radius.

Special Note:

  • Children under 6 years can join the safari free of charge while 6–12 year old children are charged only half the ticket price
  • Children aged 1–2 years can be carried and have the child seated on someone’s lap. A baby seat can be made available upon request for babies who are less than a year old.
