NHRC The Stone Sculpture Of Lion - Yapahuwa
(SKU: LSB100179E) The sculptures of the two lions are by far the most remarkable ones in Yapahuwa. The two iconic characters are depicted in an unusual pose, which resembles a combination of sitting and kneeling. The two lion statues are located on the staircases of Yapahuwa, and they are the largest lion sculptures that have been found in ancient Sri Lanka. These statues are also known as the landmark statues of Yapahuwa. The old ten-rupee note has a representation of this lion. The design of these lion statues can only be found in Sri Lanka. In particular, their goggle-eyed features and untamed manes give them a look that is reminiscent of Chinese lion sculptures.
