Collection: Birdwatching from Kandy

Located in the heart of the city of Kandy, the hill capital of Sri Lanka, the Udawattakele Forest Reserve covers an area of about 104 hectares and overlooks the magnificent Kandy Lake. Famous for its flora and fauna, the sanctuary is home to a few Buddhist Forest Monasteries as well. A well known bird watching site with over 80 species being recorded, a few endemic bird species such as the Layard’s Parakeet can be spotted at this reserve. Walking distance from the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Kandy Lake, Udawattakele is an easy find for bird watching enthusiasts.
