Vesak Bucket
Vesak Bucket
Vesak buckets, also known as Vesak Bucket, are a colorful and integral part of Vesak celebrations in Sri Lanka, marking the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of the Buddha. Traditionally made from simple materials like bamboo frames covered with colored paper, these intricately designed lanterns will give off a warm, inviting glow from within. Making the Vesak bucket is an artistic expression as well as a spiritual practice, symbolizing the light of the Buddha's teachings that dispels the darkness of ignorance. During Vesak, houses, streets and temples across the country are decorated with these beautiful lanterns, creating a spectacular display for locals and tourists alike. The display of light and color during the festival creates a sense of peace, unity and devotion among the community.
