About Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Nuwara Eliya

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, founded in 1889, is one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia and probably the world and is enriched with a tradition and an ambiance, which is hard to equal. The Club is situated at the foot of Mount Pedro (Mount Piduruthalagala) and is surrounded by some of the finest tea gardens in Sri Lanka.

The 18-hole course has a length of 6075 yards. The course is a testing par 71 consists of fairways, which are long and narrow, bordered by tall trees and dense shrubbery. Good positional play is required, and the terrain enfolds the golfer in a constant uphill and downhill trek with many water hazards. The grass on the greens is local, mixed with bluegrass. We welcome golfers of all ages and abilities.

We are known as 'the friendliest club' and aim to provide an experience that exceeds expectations on the golf course and in the clubhouse.

We work very hard at providing a course that can be enjoyed by everyone. Our members play socially and competitively and our resident golf professional provides lessons on all days of the week.

Nuwara Eliya is often referred to by the Sri Lankan tourist industry as 'Little England'. While most British visitors struggle to recognise modern England in Nuwara Eliya, the toy-town ambience does have a rose-tinted English country village feel to it, though it comes with a disorienting surrealist edge.

We have conferrable rooms named BLOCK 01 (Oldest Wing) Rooms 01-05, BLOCK 02 (Upstairs) Rooms 06-12 and BLOCK 03 (Deluxe Wing) Rooms 14-20

Facilities at Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Nuwara Eliya

Catering facilities are available in the lounge from 6.00am to 10.00pm including Sundays. Catering may also be provided off times by prior arrangement. Food can be ordered on such days but it is advisable for parties of 16 or more to book in advance.

Catering in the dining room is only available by prior arrangement for special group functions up to a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 120 people. We offer excellent quality and service.
