Our property occupies 3 acres on the very border of the park. And our location in the remote village Kochchipathana, well away from the parks more crowded entrances, affords visitors an unspoiled gateway to this remarkable ecosystem.
To stay at Cadjan Wild is to enter the preserve of nature-wild boar, deer and elephant wander freely and frequently through our property. At night you might even hear the call of a leopard as you lie under the sheets. Given our proximity to the natural world every part of our villa is crafted to blend in. From our wood, clay and thatch construction to our camouflage color scheme on the outside yet inside each chalet you'll find we've preserved the essential creature comforts of 21st century life.
Just sit on our cool terrace, recline on one of the many hammocks, soak in our salt-water swimming pool and peer into the jungle- this is an authentic wildlife experience.

Excursions and Day Tours from Cadjan wild, Kataragama
The main attraction of course, is the jungles of Yala. We can organize daily (or more) excursions into the park. Each excursion into the park by jeep can take up to 4 hours accompanied by a wildlife tracker. Once you're in the wilderness just keep your eyes peeled, listen to the sounds of nature and try to spot Sri Lanka's big 5 – Elephant, Leopard, Bear, Crocodile and Buffalo. Seasoned wildlife enthusiasts should consider two excursions a day to to give yourself the best chance of spotting the wildlife.
Visit the sacred jungle shrine of Kataragama just 10 minutes drive from the resort. A pilgrimage site with great religious and historical significance, dedicated to Lord Kataragama known to Hindus as Murugan attracts visitors from across Sri Lanka and even neighboring India. Each day at specific times, the shrines come alive when poojas (devotions) are offered to to the Gods. The baskets filled with fruit and flowers, the aroma from burning incense and oil lamps, the sounds of dashing coconuts, clanging bells and continuous chanting – all combine to provide a mesmerizing experience.
Visit the southern town of Tissamaharama with its' ancient reservoirs that attract many species of water birds including cormorant, purple heron, Caspian tern and the painted stork. Several ancient Buddhist temples including the Maha Stupa and Sandagiri monastery complex stand in close proximity to the town and allow you to glimpse the life of Buddhist monasteries off the beaten path.
