The beautifully set rooms in a traditional Sri Lankan styled Bungalow still allow you to have access to Talalla’s beautiful grounds, pool and Surf Yoga facilities (extra charge), whilst still having the privacy offered from a private room. The Bungalow includes a common living area and front balcony with shared bathrooms. This allows you to experience the Talalla Surf Camp or Yoga Retreat whilst working around your own budget.

Then The Big House room will serve as the perfect place of rest after a long day of surf and yoga adventures. These rooms are a short walk up through the Talalla Retreat grounds and provide you with an expansive view through the jungle canopy. You will love spending your afternoon on the deck watching the monkeys jump from tree to tree on their afternoon commute.

Location of Talalla Retreat, Matara

Located a few kilometres East of Dondra which is the southernmost tip of Sri Lanka, the Talalla Retreat is nestled along the beautiful southern beach stretch of Talalla. There are air taxi services that run from Colombo to Dickwella which is about a half an hour drive from Talalla. The Southern railway line currently terminates in Matara while you can easily get a ticket from Colombo Fort or Maradana and enjoy a picturesque train journey along the coast. You will have to get a taxi or tuk tuk to Talalla or arrange transport through the hotel.

The Talalla Retreat consists of a signature restaurant where guests are able to enjoy some of the finest seasonal produce the country has to offer. The menu ranges from an extensive range of tropical fruits, homemade jams, buffalo curd, fine cut oats for breakfast while lunch can be a la carte with a selection of local and international favourites. Dinner is always a colourful affair with fresh seafood dishes and International specialties along with fresh local produce transforming the restaurant in to a culinary feast. The evenings are delightful with a full bar where you can enjoy cocktails and local alcoholic beverages as well. Special occasions are celebrated with mouth-watering buffet spreads.

Excursions to a number of interesting places can be organized by a vehicle or a tuk tuk. Some of the most interesting and recommended tours include a Blue Whale Excursion from Dondra, the Dondra Lighthouse which is the highest lighthouse in Southern Asia, a boat trip to the Lighthouse, the Dondra devalaya, the Handunugoda Tea Plantations, the Mulkirigala Rock Temple, the Blow Hole in Mawella, the Polhena Beach and the Weherahena Viharaya. For the more adventurous traveller, the Udawalawe National Park, the Yala National Park and the Bundala National Park can be reached within 2 - 3 hours.
