Plantation Villa is the proprietor's bungalow of Wattalaya Watta plantation. It's now more than 6 decades old and was earlier occupied by the village chief. The surrounding village is called Nehinna on the suburbs of Kalutara district. A rubber production surrounds the bungalow and the first building which you passed in the drive way was the then factory used for the production of smoked rubber sheets.A 40 foot pool is located on the side of the garden with a high-tech, low chlorine filtration system. At one end of the pool there is a jet system that has a Jacuzzi-like sensation. Many guests enjoy swimming laps or just relaxing in the water.
The property is located just 15 km away from Kalutara City Centre. It is 43 km away from Colombo and 80 km away from Bandaranaike International Airport with airport transfers available at a surcharge.
Plantation Villa was once a colonial bungalow with 30 acres of rubber, coconut, cinnamon and black pepper. Today, as a Wellness Sanctuary the villa retains a sense of authentic charm across all its rooms, suites, quiet alcoves, communal and meditation spaces. Surrounded by lush rainforest, the plantation is also a home to many rare bird species, butterflies, tropical flora and fauna, all existing in harmony with Plantation Villa.The Villa is a colonial home, approximately 150yrs old. It was the house of the village chief and it now converted to consists of a living room, dinning hall, veranda, open living area and bedrooms. The property consists of the main Villa and two Lodges, each about 2 minutes walking distance from each other. The Lodge-1 is the original house of the first occupier of this colonial treasure. With time, their son built a bigger home to house his expanding family. This is now the main Villa.The Villa consists of 8 rooms (2 Suite Rooms and 6 Deluxe Rooms), the Dining Hall, Lounge, Verandahs and Spa. The Lodge 1 and 2 consists of 9 Standard rooms and open Verandahs. The Villa and the Lodge were renovated in 2016 and is decorated to contemporary colonial style in keeping with the age of the property and to meet our guest comforts and modern needs.
