Negombo which is a famous fishing village is located by the shores of the Negombo Lagoon and was once a famous trading port for the Dutch as well as Portuguese. Attractions in the city include the Old Dutch Fort Gate and the Dutch Canal which is quite long and still runs through the town where you can even enjoy a boat ride.
