(SKU: LK150035D4Amaya Beach Sri Lanka is set next to the beach at Passikudah Bay, a long stretch of coastline renowned for its calm and shallow waters, ideal for swimming and water sports. The outer bay has an extensive coral reef and there are scattered coral communities within the bay, together forming one of the best-known reef systems in the Indian Ocean. The resort, which is on the east side of the island, is 35 kilometres north of Batticaloa.

Location

Uniquely set next to the beach at Passikudah Bay, the Amaya Beach faces a long stretch of unspoilt coastline which is well known for its shallow and calm waters. Located along the breath taking east coast of Sri Lanka, the resort is about 35km North of Batticaloa while the distance from Colombo is approximately 320km. There is a railway line that runs from Colombo to Batticaloa while air taxis and car rentals are available from the airport.

Accommodation 

The Amaya Beach consists of 125 guestrooms and suites that are designed with lavish decor and vivid colours that reflects the island. All rooms consist of either king-sized beds or two double beds while suites can easily accommodate families of 5 or 6 easily. There are also bunk beds in a separate children's area. All units include ample living space depending on the type of room, a furnished balcony or terrace, individually controlled air-conditioning, flat screen television with a host of international channels, a mini bar, in-room safe, IDD telephone line, wireless internet access and tea/coffee making facilities.

Guests at the Amaya Beach can choose from Superior rooms, Deluxe Ocean Facing rooms, Premium Deluxe Ocean View rooms, Deluxe Suite Ocean facing, the Deluxe Family Residence, Deluxe Centara suite and the Premium Deluxe Spa suite.

Facilities 

Guests are offered a number of venues to wine and dine at the Amaya Beach. For Sri Lankan, Thai and various International cuisine the 'Reef Cafe' is ideal while it also boasts of all day dining options. With colourful buffet spreads and chef's choice menus, you can taste the best of culinary delights. For the best in Asian and Sri Lankan buffets, the 'Spice Market' is open for lunch and dinner. Al fresco dining is available at 'Elements' while the venue specializes in fresh seafood and succulent varieties of meat. The types of cuisine includes Asian, Indian and Middle Eastern.

The 'Aqua Bar' which is an al fresco lounge bar overlooks the pool while guests can enjoy a number of refreshments, cocktails and light snacks throughout the day and into the late hours of the night. You can also enjoy a fine cup of tea there. The 'Beach Bar' is located a few feet away from the beach where you can enjoy light snacks, tropical cocktails, juices and refreshments.

For pampering treatments and your total well being the Amaya Beach comprises of 'Spa Cenvaree' while there are a number of treatment packages that you can choose from. The resort consists of meeting facilities where the ballroom has a capacity of 150 guests. Outdoor beachside functions can be arranged by a team of professional event planners.

Amaya Beach also consist of a large swimming pool, a supervised kids club, camp safari for children between the ages 4 - 9, an E-zone for teenagers, a children's pool, fitness centre, baby sitting upon request, tour information desk, wireless internet access, medical services, laundry services, currency exchange, beach activities and a number of water sports such as kayaking, wind surfing, exploring coral reefs etc.

Since the Amaya Beach is located in the beautiful Passikudah bay, guests have ample opportunities of experiencing a number of water sports in the shallow waters that surround the area. The drive to Batticaloa and Trincomalee won't take long while you can experience the culture and visit some historically relevant locations. With time in hand, you can visit some of the National parks in the region or head towards Pigeon Island which is off the coast of Trincomalee. The drive from Colombo will certainly help you pass many interesting stopovers.
